The Introduction to Photography workshop is aimed at the novice photographer, to explore the functions of the camera, and to help you understand the exposure triangle.

The first hour we will go over the Camera Basics, followed by a practical session, with time for you to capture some images of your own for review afterwards

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

You will need to bring your camera, a fully charged battery (and spares if you have them), an SD/ memory card.

It would be useful if you can bring the camera manual with you, just in case we need it to find any of the camera's operations.

Some money to buy a coffee/ drink and nibbles

WHAT SORT OF CAMERA DO I NEED?

This is more suited to bridge cameras and DSLR users but as long as you are able to put the camera into Manual, Aperture Priority or Shutterspeed modes any camera will do.NB: If there is a chance of rain, bring suitable clothing, and a clear polythene bag and some large elastic bands to ensure your camera stays dry.

I HAVE A DSLR, WHAT LENSES SHOULD I BRING?

You only need to bring one. I would suggest  a fairly wide one (10mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm) or a standard zoom (18-55mm)

DO I NEED A TRIPOD?

Bring one if you wish, and we will put it to good use but it is not essential.

WHAT EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?

Absolutely none. This course is designed for the absolute beginner to get you confident with handling and operating your camera. If you have only just purchased the camera, it would be an idea to read through the manual to understand the controls.
